Appeal (In Tigrinya)tigrinya
We, former students and
founders of the Tsebah School in Eritrea, are pleading to
all who are interested in presenting the true face of Africa, to help us to
stop producing the film based on the so called biography of Senait G. Mehary
"Feuerherz" (publishing house of Droemer and Knaur).
Because of her book, Senait
Mehary became an ambassador against recruiting child soldiers for big
humanitarian organizations
- Aktion Weißes
Friedensband gegen den Einsatz von Kindersoldaten
- UNICEF
- Misereor
- Terre des Hommes
- Karlheinz Böhms
Menschen für Menschen).
In her book she presents
herself as a one who has experienced the destiny of child soldiers. This mainly
fabricated life story is now going to be filmed: the producer Andreas Bareiss
and the film director Lugi Falomi in cooperation with Media Faculty of Weimar
University in Germany are planning to
make this film in Kenya according to the
book "Feuerherz". (Press release of the Bauhaus University of Weimar in Germany, Faculty Media: On
the way to Africa: http://idw-online.de/pages/de). Andreas
Bareiss is the producer of "NOWHERE IN AFRICA" and he is an Oskar
prize-winner. Luigi Falomi is the producer of the famous film The Story of the Weeping Camel, which has been
nominated for Oskar.
After Senait Mehari with her
best-seller has misled the readers, we see the situation dangerous for the
grown friendship between Germany and Eritrea that can be risked by releasing of
the promoted project in which a chapter of Eritrean history is distortedly
shown, (Press Relations of the Federal Government: www.pressrelations.de/new/standard).
We, former students and
founders of Tsebah School, testify that
there were no child soldiers in our school and that Tsebah School was not a child
soldiers recruiting camp.
Please help us to stop filming
based on the so called biography of Senait Mehary. The making of film is going
to start in July 2007 in Kenya.
